The Monster class; The skull enigma.

The Monster class; The skull enigma.

The Monster class are a very peculiar group: they are friends, they are schoolmates and adventurers, but they also have another point in common; they are monsters.

Daniel Hernández Chambers is the creator of Leo, Tasio, Amber, Telmo, Jimmy the handsome and other monsters that star in this series of adventures and enigmas.

The collection is already in its 5th published book that continues volume after volume with the experiences of the same characters.
They are pocket-sized books, about 100 pages and a low price, less than € 10.
Today we review precisely the 5th title: the enigma of the skulls.

Tyrone Cox is the principal of the school the monsters attend and also teams up with them to solve riddles and mysteries.
Rigoberta Filipa Trescantos Cien-fuegos de la Sierra Júnior was a famous writer, she was an old friend of Cox and at that time she was in the director’s room asking for his help.

Rigoberta is writing a new book about the legend of the 13 skulls and while researching for it she discovered that although that legend is more false than a € 1000 bill, there is another legend related to it that seems to be completely authentic.

The legend says that there are 5 skulls and not 13, and those skulls should never be put together, because they will grant whoever does it an unparalleled power.
And the problem is that there is already a man who has 3 of the 5 skulls.

Rigoberta needs the help of director Cox and his Monster team to prevent Donald Carlton the Third from gathering the 5 skulls and having absolute power.

Here begins the adventure for the Monster class, who must find the 2 missing skulls before Donald to prevent him from having them all and dominating the world.

Adventures and mystery in this youth series.

The collection of the Monster class has all the necessary ingredients to capture the interest of young readers: atypical protagonists, adventures and a mysterious case.

I do not know that they have the adventure and fantasy books that they like so much, but the fact is that they work and serve to make children more reluctant to read encouraged with this type of books.

The reading is agile and fun with some time to laugh at the occurrences of monsters and sparkling dialogues.
It is not usual for the principal of your school to be complicit in what you do inside and outside it, but I think it is a good way to show this figure, usually serious and authoritarian, in a close and human way. Accustomed to reading books where directors are tyrants who blame and punish, it is wonderful to meet one who is the opposite.

The book also contains various illustrations throughout its pages. There is no color, because they are in grayscale, but they show perfectly each character and scenario, although, in my son’s opinion: it would have been better with colors.

The Monster class series is fun, fresh and eye-catching, highly recommended from 8/9 years old.
