Christmas having children and / or babies at home is especially magical, isn’t it? In my case, everything is thought by and for them, the true protagonists. And that includes the part of the gifts, in my family we are many and only gifts are made for the little ones in the house.
This year there have been new additions, so it was time to look for and choose baby toys and I knew exactly where, I have known Kaloo for years and it has the most beautiful toys and accessories you will see.
And not only beautiful, they are safe and 100% respectful. Kaloo has been creating stuffed animals and toys for more than 20 years with great care knowing that the recipients are the most important thing that exists and as such you have to take care of them. Its products are created with top quality materials, extra soft textiles and tender characters, always taking into account that they pass the most demanding safety tests and also the most important test: the approval of the recipients.
How should baby toys be?
When we talk about babies we refer to mini people from 0 to 2 years approximately, when they are more dependent and vulnerable and we have to be with a thousand eyes on them and what surrounds them.
At this stage the toys must be 100% safe and have passed the required quality controls. Do not buy baby toys in bazaars or places type “everything to 100” where there will surely be many products and low tough, but surely they do not have the CE mark that guarantees that the product complies with safety regulations.
Once we have this clear, the next thing is to look at them that they are toys suitable for the age of the baby who is going to receive it, since a baby of a few months is not the same as one of almost 2 years old.
For example, for babies of a few months I would put aside toys with a lot of weight, sounds, actions or strong colors and instead opt for soft doudous and stuffed animals of attachment that accompany them and provide them with security and comfort.
Precisely Kaloo began with this type of stuffed animals and dolls so tender and soft, punished to be the first friends of our babies and accompany them in their childhood.
At approximately 4 months babies already begin to grab objects and things that they have within reach and to be more awake and curious with what surrounds them, it is time to introduce toys that can attract their attention with textures, sounds and colors.
At that stage we opted a lot for stuffed animals-rattles and sensory books of fabric or felt with textures, sounds and activities that promote manipulative play and sensory exploration of babies.
Alma’s first cloth books were filled with paper with sound, horn effects, mirror, flaps and frolicking ribbons that she could investigate, bite and grab freely and without risk to her, since textiles do not carry any toxic component in the fabrics or prints and are perfectly sewn and made to withstand every pull and bite.
Other very good options are carpets and activity gyms where babies can spend time lying down trying to grasp objects and thus strengthening their muscles and improving their psychomotor development. I especially remember that Noah spent many months like this because he just wanted to be lying on the carpet and never in the hammock.
This also serves to allow them greater freedom of movement and learn to crawl, turn and crawl trying to reach the different objects that attract their attention.
Recommended toys from 1 year.
Babies grow too fast and when we least realize they will be crawling around the house. From the year I still consider them babies, but they already have some autonomy and begin to be more interested in toys and want to use them through imitation.
From 1 to 2 years they dedicate themselves to exploring and touching everything, even wanting to eat everything, like Alma. Therefore, we must continue thinking about always looking for quality and above all safety in the toys we offer.
Alma begins to be much more interested in sensory books now that she is a year old, so we have expanded her collection of books by adding new ones with animals and geometric shapes so that she becomes familiar with them and learns to distinguish them.
The one in the photo is the booklet Grow with me that you can find in various children’s stores in Spain such as Minikidz.
Following this line of cloth sensory toys we would also have finger puppets, stuffed rattles with activities, rag dolls or drag toys that encourage them to chase them and crawl or walk.
One of our favorites is the burrito Les Amis from one of the Kaloo collections where you can find it in the form of a rocker, musical stuffed animal or like ours, stuffed and dragging at the same time.
The burrito is extremely soft microvelvet and makes you want to cuddle it at all times. It is placed with Velcro in a wooden structure with wheels that serves as a drag for you to take you for a walk throughout the house.
What Alma likes most is to drag him with his leash everywhere, try to eat him and give him a lot of cuddles.
Inside it hides a rattle that sounds when you move it and catches your attention by rolling it with the base, which slides smoothly when carrying a fabric reinforcement on the wheels.
Rag dolls are another appropriate gift for this age and the great collection of Kaloo will not leave you indifferent. They have an optimal size to be taken by them, being able to choose between 25, 40 or up to 80 cm. The bodies are soft to avoid unnecessary bumps and their faces are extremely sweet.
The truth is that with any of the Kaloo toys you will have a sure hit because they are all adorable and designed to be good playmates. The softness of their textures is indescribable, it really makes you want to sleep cuddling them, whether they are stuffed animals, dolls or cloth books.
The Quality team of the brand itself, specifically trained for this purpose, controls each stage of manufacture, thus guaranteeing a constant quality of the finishes and optimal safety. That’s why I insist on letting you know that they are safe toys in all aspects, but most importantly, they are toys that babies / children like very much for their appearance, softness and handling.
