Lately in my house you hear a lot from the board game publisher La caja. And it seems that they have a sixth sense to know which games will be a success because they nail it, game that they take, game that triumphs. They are the editors of the famous Guatafac and another that we love and that I showed you not long ago: Little secret.
Well, after the success of Guatafac, comes another more “light” version. GuataFamily is perfect for playing with kids, as its big brother Guatafc is for adults because of its unfiltered questions.
Could it be said that the publishing house La Caja is an expert in hooligan games? Right, and that’s something I love.
GuataFamily.
Family version of Guatafac. From 7/8 years old.
Simple rules to learn to play in seconds.
Lightning fast games.
Includes 480 letters with questions.
1% of the profits are donated to charity and the game is printed in Spain on paper from responsibly managed forests.
Moms, dads, don’t worry. In this version there is not a single spicy, political question or one that makes us want to swallow the earth for asking them in front of our children. Of course, I am not responsible for the fact that the answers of the children do not take out more than one color.
How do I play GuataFamily?
If you’re expecting a great tutorial or explanation, this time there won’t be. This is a game of mental quickness, wit, humor, it is not a game with a thousand rules and two instruction sheets.
The presentation of the game is typical of The box that I like so much: an elongated box with all the cards, of a fairly compact size and very cute.
Inside, 480 cards in two colors: white and sky blue. The blue ones are questions for children and the white ones for parents/adults.
Basically, the game tries to answer the questions quickly and ingeniously, because they must approve our answers.
Each player will take turns playing Guataking and say the question out loud. The player on your left has 8 seconds to answer it.
In theory there are 8 seconds to answer and to make it easy for us to calculate it, there is an app on Google Play of our phones with the countdown (also available for iOs). The good news is that you can also put it in more time, because playing with children 8 seconds is very little.
The first player to reach 5 points becomes the winner of the game. Logically, you can set the limit of points you want if your intention is to shorten or lengthen the games, it also depends on the number of players.
Speed, sincerity and fun!
GuataFamily is a perfect game to take out on any occasion because you do not have to learn rules or game mechanics, so it will not take you long to play, only as long as it takes you to open the box.
Each question tests your wit, imagination and mental agility. Eye that seems simple, but it is not when you go against the clock to give the answers.
Types of questions for children:
Children have many more cards than parents. I do not know why, I imagine that the reason is that there are usually more children than adults when we play as a family.
The questions are of the type “Name 3” except for some exception that asks for one or two things, some challenge or small confessions.
In addition to including questions for children, there are 10 cards with actions that can help us win. They are a kind of wild cards with shares and advantages.
It also includes a series of cards called “challenge” where instead of answering a question they will have to do the challenge that proposes. Ex: Draw something with your eyes closed. If no one guesses what it is, you lose.
Types of questions for parents:
In the parents’ deck there are fewer cards, but enough not to repeat in the same game.
The questions are similar to those of children, but this time putting parents in trouble with their whole family. Will they respond truthfully or will they go off on a tangent?
As with children, the deck of cards parents includes cards with advantages and cards with actions.
Why should you have GuataFamily?
Do not hesitate and ask this year to the Kings, it is a great game to encourage dialogue as a family, get to know each other more and create moments that children will always remember. The perfect excuse to spend time with them while the whole family has fun.
