Do you know the Peppa Pig playhouse?

I remember that time several centuries ago when older cousins wouldn’t let us play their games because we were “too young.” Basically, they just let us play Parcheesi, swallowers and the like. Board games, strategy and cards were forbidden for us.

Now things have changed a lot and in the market there are many board games and cards for children from 4-5 years old with which they can play without any difficulty.
One of those games, and one of the first that Noah had, is Pets, a card game where we will have to be the best taking care of our friends to win the game.

If I have to recommend a children’s card game, this would probably be a favorite next to Sherlock Express or The Enchanted Castle. The game is indicated as +4 years, but I would clarify that to play it with less than 7/8 it would be necessary to use one of the variants mentioned at the end of the post. If it is played on a regular basis, for that age it becomes quite complicated.

Children’s card game: Pets.

This children’s card game is especially suitable for the little ones and although in its instructions there are some starting complications, I removed those options that complicate it until the little one knew how to play well at all to make it even easier to learn. Below I will tell you what those variations were.

🎯 Objective of the game: Playing Pets we will have to show that we are the best taking care of ours. But beware, it will not be easy because others also want the same thing and can hinder our path.

📦 Content: 4 large pet cards that will be our board and 78 small cards of pets, care, statuses and actions.

How is it played?

1⃣ First we will distribute a pet card to each player, randomly and without other players knowing which one touches each one. That will be their target pet, the one they should take care of.
The cards with care, actions and states are mixed and left on the table upside down.
Then we place the 4 large pet cards in the center and each player will draw 4 cards from the deck of cards on the table.

2⃣ The game begins and in turns we will play a card from our hand with 3 different options:
1. We can place care cards on pets as long as they do not already have it. These cards are the following: games, food, toilet or house and have different color depending on the pet they belong to.

The card is played by placing it in the corresponding corner of each large pet card that we have on the table in view of everyone. If a card already exists with that specific care, it cannot be played.

If we can’t play a care card we can do the optional move 2: play an action card.
These cards can alter the entire game completely, favor one player, harm the rest, etc.

The action cards are: the mischievous child who moves a status card from one pet to another, the policeman who makes the player who uses it exchange his cards with another player he chooses, the pet store that makes the player exchange his objective pet with another player, the tornado that causes all players to exchange all their cards between them and the most hateful, The mad scientist who leaves the pet chosen by the thrower, without any letter of status or care.

If we also don’t have action cards or prefer to use status cards, we have the 3rd option: play a status card for or against a pet.

These cards can be used to sicken or annoy another player’s pet. The child’s letter gives pampering to a pet, with that we protect it from the cat’s letter or we remove it if someone puts it on us.
The veterinarian’s letter cures a pet that has fleas or prevents them.
That is, we can throw the cat and fleas against other pets so that they do not win the game and use the pampering and veterinary in ours if they have attacked us. When we use them to cure/pamper the pet, once used both cards are removed from the pet.

4⃣ After playing his card, he will steal another one from the deck to have 4 in his hand again and pass the turn to the next player.
