Play-Doh, the origin of plasticine.

Play-Doh, the origin of plasticine.

It could be said that Play-Doh plasticine is older than cough, dating from 1930 when it began to be used as a soot cleaner on the walls, although it was not until 1950 that it began to be marketed as plasticine for children after a redesign to verify that children used it as a modeling mass. And since then, I would say that it is and has been present in most homes.

Some time after its commercialization as a toy they began to manufacture and distribute Play-Doh in very complete and fun game sets like the one we will show you today, the Super Cafeteria.
These sets are designed so that the fun never ends, since you can use the plasticine separately without limits to the imagination or with the sets when you want to play differently.

Today it is one of the main brands of Hasbro, the renowned toy company that has owned Play-Doh since 1991 and that year after year offers us new sets and new colors for use in schools and at home.

Super Play-Doh Cafeteria. 20 pieces and lots of fun.

The Super Cafeteria is one of the last Play-Doh sets and surely you have seen it advertised on TV.Today we will make a complete review to check if it is as fun as it seems.

For starters, the coffee maker is of a very considerable size and comes almost assembled, in 5 parts very easy to assemble.
In addition, it includes a display whose trays become molds, a tray and many accessories.
It also includes 8 plasticine jars that will soon fall short because in this cafeteria there is so much to do!

Playing with the Super Cafeteria.

Jimena and Noah have been my testers and they have done wonderfully because they really like everything that has to do with crafts.

With the Super Cafeteria you can create delicious smoothies, coffees with lots of foam, cupcakes, macaroni, donuts and cookies, decorations for your cakes and much more.

To create smoothies and coffees we have the beverage dispenser that fills the glass with the amount we want, and if we put two-color plasticine, it will make spectacular smoothies and coffees!
Once the glass is filled, with a button we will turn it to beat it and pass it to the cream dispenser. Mmm, how rich!

Now it only remains to decorate and for this we have different decorative molds in the coffee maker itself, at its base, on the shelves of our exhibitor and in the different accessories.

We can make fruits, figures, hearts, cookies, stars, confetti and much more. No two drinks will be the same with so many options.

And to accompany our drinks, a lot of sweet or savory cookies, macaroni, donuts or cupcakes. Who is going to resist?

It is a perfect toy for both boys and girls and I see no age limit, Jimena and Noah are 10/11 years old and have spent a whole afternoon playing with it to give their opinion. They have already ruled that it will be perfect entertainment on our long winter evenings.

I think it can be used perfectly from 3-4 years because there are no very small or dangerous pieces and using their plasticine they do not need to make force to use the coffee maker or molds.

The only downside is that they immediately fall short of plasticine when making a couple of drinks and a few cookies and donuts, but it comes enough to play and reuse creating new dishes and drinks. In addition, you can buy lots of colors so that the fun does not end.

Have you run out of Play-Doh?. Buy a batch of colors.

We immediately fell short of the plasticine kit that is included in the set, but as soon as I realized it I ordered a new batch of 24 large colored jars for less than € 15 on Amazon that saved my life to continue playing without limits and to use it in other crafts. I leave you link of my purchase here.

Play-Doh Super Cafeteria.

8 pots of Play-Doh.
Toy coffee maker.
Display and tray.
20 accessories: molds, plates, roller, piping bag, etc.

Play-Doh plate, quality and non-toxic plasticine.

If you have any of their sets, surely when you have finished you will have tried to use them with other types of plasticine without success. We do, and it’s not the same at all. Other plasticines are harder and there is no way to pass them through the holes of our Super Cafeteria or the piping bag or remove it from the molds without spoiling the design.

I do not know what Play-Doh has, but it is the perfect dough for these games because it has better handling, is softer and goes perfectly through the accessories that mold it and separates very well from all molds. I wouldn’t recommend another one to use in their own sets, they’re the perfect tandem.

Play-Doh plasticine is certified as non-toxic under the Hazardous Art Materials Labeling Act (LHAMA), but children allergic to gluten may have an allergic reaction to this product.

It is made mainly of water, salt and flour and has more than 50 different colors, as well as having some more special ones with glitter, confetti or rainbow.
Its moist and extremely soft texture is perfect for very young children who lack strength and who are still developing their fine motor skills. In addition, it is ideal for the brand’s mold sets.

Benefits of playing with plasticine

• Stimulates creativity and imagination like no other toy. There is nothing they can’t create with plasticine: dolls, animals, shapes, environments, characters…

• Works fine motor skills and psychomotor ability to control the force and pressure they have to exert on the mass. The different movements they will make to create round, elongated, square figures, etc. undoubtedly favor exercising their fine motor skills.

• Stimulates the senses. Plasticine is undoubtedly a visual attraction with so much color, but so is the smell and especially the Play-Doh smells really good. They also stimulate touch 100%

• Promotes literacy. It helps a lot in writing in school stage, since the movements they make to obtain the different shapes serve to hold pencils and colors.

• Facilitates the learning of colors, ranges and mixtures. It will be easy for them to start identifying the colors with each type and not only that, to create other tones by mixing the basic or primary colors.

• Improves concentration and patience when it comes to achieving what they propose. They have the figures or shapes in their head and they have to get them made in plasticine. They can achieve it in minutes or hours, without stress or pressure.
