There is a rule that I follow when these dates arrive and that is that in my house nothing is taken out of Christmas until the bridge. On those dates is when they give us each neighbor who wants the pine for our houses and it is the starting gun.
Of course, that I do not decorate or prepare anything at home, does not mean that I do not get ahead with other things that I consider important, such as the child’s gifts or the Advent calendars.
In our family it is not necessary to have a calendar or gifts for adults, we only make gifts and Advent calendars for children, the protagonists of these holidays.
Do we make them ourselves or do we buy them made?
At first I made these calendars and tried to make them always different.
For example, one year I created a Treasure Hunt Calendar with a panel full of cards that I made by hand and in each one there was a clue about where to find the surprise.
For another occasion I created a calendar of paper houses with pine trees and other ornaments to create a Christmas village and inside each house and each tree were the gifts. I had bought on aliexpress many pieces and lego figures that the kid liked and were all hidden there.
But I’m honest, I got tired. It was very difficult for me to do them weeks before and doing the math I did not come out so cheap between buying gifts to put and material to make them. The ideal would be to combine gifts with typical Christmas activities, but that was not an option in our case, since we live in a remote village with no options.
So now that I declare myself vague, I dedicate myself to getting ready-made Advent calendars for children. That is, those thematic or not, which already come with everything ready so that they only have to open when it touches and gives them a little toy.
